Kradle
A Newton's cradle that plays your synth.
What it does
Kradle is a Newton's cradle that runs in Live. Lift a ball and let it go: every impact plays a note, and the swinging balls can move any parameter in your set: a filter, a send, a delay time, anything you can click.
In Ideal timing every impact lands on Live's grid, from the first hard hit to the last tap, and the velocity falls away with the swing. Switch to Real and it behaves like the one on your desk: a big lift swings slow and tightens up as it dies, no two balls are quite the same, and friction stops it dead.
Start it by dragging a ball, pressing KICK, or playing notes into it (harder notes lift higher). Lock re-lifts the balls every beat or bar, so it's a pattern you can arrange. Turn the notes off and it's a modulator with a feel no LFO has: a hit, a long fall, and a swing that slows down.
What's in it
- 3 to 7 balls, Ideal or Real timing
- Ball or Contact: play the ball that flies off, or every contact at once for chords
- Gap ripples each hit through the row as a flam. Imperfection slowly pulls a clean swing apart
- 10 scales, or your own note for each ball
- 4 modulation slots: each ball, Side, Energy and Impact
- 5 presets built in, 5 pages of controls on Push, KICK and STOP can be automated, and a one-page manual
